Blast Furnace Slag Cement Reduces Permeability
Blast Furnace Slag (BFS) produces extra CSH Gel (Calcium Silicate Hydrate), which reduces the permeability of concrete. Water entrance is permeable concrete, but concrete made with SLAG cement reduces water entrance from the air. Impermeable concrete provides safety to both concrete and reinforcement within concrete.
Cement + Water = CSH + Ca(OH)2 + Heat Proportion of CSH to Ca(OH)2 is a measure of Permeability. Slag + Ca(OH)2 = Additional CSH Gel (Reduction of permeability).
