Portland Composite Cement (PCC) has been manufactured in Bangladesh over the last two decades by following the European Norms (EN). There is no reason to doubt whether PCC will be as effective as PC for foundation- or basement-related uses. Similar to regular Portland cement, Portland composite cement helps boost strength and durability. The basic difference between them is in manufacturing technology and raw materials mix. Only 65% to 79% of clinkers are needed to produce PCC, while minimum 95% of clinkers are needed to make PC. In addition, PCC’s environmental relevance is making it more and more popular worldwide.

Akij Cement Company Limited manufactures strength-class 42.5N cement following green architecture and eco-friendly structural principles. Akij PCC CEM II/B-M continues to gain strength due to its iron slag for 91 days. Its C-S-H gel coats the bar to protect against corrosion, reduce permeability and void ratio to make durable concrete or Dura-crete, and enhance the life cycle of the structures. The construction is rendered fair-facing by smooth plastering and the use of limestone.
